Advisory · NO MiCA LICENCE — EU services restricted since 1 July 2026 (2026-06-24)

On 24 June 2026 Binance said it had withdrawn its MiCA licence application in Greece and would seek authorisation in another EU member state; the MiCA transition period ended on 30 June 2026. According to press reports and emails Binance sent to users, from 1 July 2026 it limited services such as new sign-ups, deposits, new orders and Earn/staking for users served by its local entities in France, Italy, Spain and Poland, with withdrawals left open. Binance states that users' assets remain accessible at all times, and press reports from August and September 2026 say EU regulators are examining how Binance still serves some EU customers.

Our position: listed, with this notice. Binance says it is working toward MiCA authorisation; until it has one, readers in the EU should check what their own account can do and keep only what they need on the exchange. The facts above come from Binance's own blog post of 24 June 2026 and press reports — check them yourself.

Advisory · HACKED on 24 September 2026 — about $388M taken, Bitget says its fund covers the loss (2026-09-24)

On 24 September 2026 Bitget detected unauthorized transfers from part of its hot and warm wallets across several blockchains; it first estimated the loss at about $351.6 million and later put the figure at about $388 million, and states that its cold wallets were not affected and that the attackers may have exploited a vulnerability in a third-party security product. Bitget states that its User Protection Fund, which it said held over $464 million, covers the loss in full and that user balances were unaffected. Withdrawals were paused, then reopened in stages: Bitcoin on 28 September, with other tokens, fiat and P2P scheduled for 2 October.

Our position: listed, with this notice. Bitget states that its own fund covers the loss and that user balances were unaffected, so this is rated an advisory; the notice would change if that account proves wrong. The facts above come from Bitget's own security notices — check them yourself.

  6. Bithumb ₿ USE

South Korea's top Bitcoin and crypto exchange.

    Centralized Exchanges

Advisory · ERROR — about 620,000 BTC credited by mistake on 6 February 2026 (2026-02-06)

On 6 February 2026 a promotion error at Bithumb credited about 620,000 BTC to hundreds of customer accounts instead of small won rewards; the amounts were ledger entries, not coins Bithumb held. Bithumb states the incident was not a hack and that no customer assets were lost, restricted the affected accounts within about 35 minutes, recovered 99.7% of the credited BTC and says it covered the rest from company funds. Some recipients sold part of the credited BTC before the freeze, and The Korea Times reports a price drop of about 17% on Bithumb and roughly 1 billion won in investor losses; South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service began a sanctions process in August 2026, and no final penalty had been reported when we checked.

Our position: listed, with this notice. This was an internal accounting error, not a hack or theft of customer coins, and Bithumb says it recovered or covered the credited amounts. The facts above come from Bithumb's own notice and press reports — check them yourself.

  7. BitMart ₿ USE

Former altcoin exchange — trading ended Aug 2026, closing Jan 2027.

    Centralized Exchanges · Lightning

Custodial. The company holds the keys to your bitcoin. BitMart: User Agreement

    Advisory · CLOSING DOWN — trading ended 26 August 2026, platform ceases 31 January 2027 (2026-07-26)

BitMart announced on 26 July 2026 an orderly wind-down of its trading platform, citing its operating conditions, market environment and strategic direction. New registrations, deposits and new orders were suspended from 26 July 2026, all trading ended on 26 August 2026, and operations cease on 31 January 2027. BitMart strongly recommended submitting withdrawal requests before 05:00 UTC on 26 August 2026, says later requests move to a dedicated processing procedure that can involve identity, source-of-funds and address checks, and says that after operations cease users can log in for a period it has not specified to submit withdrawal requests. If you hold anything on BitMart, withdraw it to a wallet you control now, and ignore anyone who asks for an expedited processing fee — BitMart says it never asks for one.

Our position: listed for the wind-down only, so anyone with funds still there can find the dates. The listing will be archived when withdrawals close. The facts above come from BitMart's own notice — check them yourself.

Advisory · HACKED in July 2025 — about $44M lost, CoinDCX says it absorbed the loss (2025-07-19)

On 19 July 2025 CoinDCX lost about $44 million in USDT from an internal operational account used for liquidity provisioning on a partner exchange, which it says was compromised through a server breach. CoinDCX states that customer assets are held in segregated cold wallets and were not affected, that it is absorbing the loss from its own treasury reserves, and that INR deposits, withdrawals and trading kept running. It reported the incident to India's CERT-In and launched a recovery bounty program.

Our position: listed, with this notice. The loss was in a company operational account, not customer wallets, and CoinDCX says it covered it itself, so this is an advisory. The facts above come from CoinDCX's own incident reports — check them yourself.

Advisory · CLOSING DOWN — withdraw your funds by 22 December 2026 (2026-09-15)

CoinEx announced on 15 September 2026 that it is winding down after nine years. New registrations stopped the same day. All non-spot services and on-chain deposits end on 22 September 2026, spot trading ends on 29 September 2026, and the withdrawal window closes at 02:00 UTC on 22 December 2026. CoinEx states its reserves exceed 100% and that all user assets can be withdrawn in full. USDT left on the platform after the deadline is moved to an independent custodian and charged a monthly fee of 5% of the balance. If you hold anything on CoinEx, withdraw it to a wallet you control before the deadline.

Our position: listed for the withdrawal window only, so anyone with funds still there can find the dates. The listing will be archived when withdrawals close. The facts above come from CoinEx's own announcement — check them yourself.

Advisory · SANCTIONED — by the UK (26 May 2026) and the EU (23 July 2026) over Russia links (2026-07-23)

On 26 May 2026 the UK designated Huobi Global S.A., the entity behind HTX, under its Russia sanctions regime, which subjects it to UK financial sanctions; the UK government's statement of reasons says it provided services to the A7 network. On 23 July 2026 the EU Council added HTX to its 21st sanctions package, and from 23 August 2026 EU persons and operators are barred from transactions with HTX, which The Block describes as a transaction ban rather than a full asset freeze. HTX states that it takes compliance seriously and runs an active compliance program. If you live in the UK or the EU and hold funds on HTX, get legal advice before moving or depositing anything.

Our position: listed, with this notice, because the exchange still operates outside the UK and EU. Readers in the UK or EU are legally restricted from dealing with it. The facts above come from the UK sanctions list and EU Council announcements, as reported by The Block and others — check them yourself.
